Celebrating the Morning (Sponsored Post)

Mornings are my favorite part of the day. You'll remember that even before Claire came (with her sometimes early wake-up calls!), I've been partial to this time of day when the sun streams through curtains and dapples window sills announcing a fresh start.

I love getting up, making a bowl of cereal or oatmeal, a cup of coffee (cold in the summer, hot in winter, please), and relaxing in the day's quiet before the chaos and to-do lists of life kick into high gear. It's relaxation at its simplest and a chance to savor the day that's at hand.

It's a little like giving thanks before the miracle that Ann Voskamp writes about in One Thousand Gifts.

In that original ode to morning, I wrote:
It’s so simple, really. It’s life at its most basic. The sun comes up and then goes down, and so we follow along with it. ... And yet, that’s the beauty of it all. It’s a constant reminder that a new day will always dawn. There’s always another chance to throw open the curtains and let the Son shine in. No matter what yesterday may have held—heartache or hunger, health or happiness—there’s always another day to draw closer to that which truly matters, to remember what we’re here for, and that somehow he holds all of this—the sun and all of it—in his hands. Even us.

Isn't that the truth? A reminder I continually need to take note of and whisper to my heart.
